在一片湖泊與樹影的包圍中，儼然矗立一座金燦燦的三層樓閣建築物，它便是金閣寺的象徵「舍利殿」。
「舍利殿」的外牆塗上一層金箔，極盡奢華。金閣寺曾遭受兩次大火，在三島由紀夫所寫的小說《金閣寺》裡，便改編了僧人放火燒寺的故事：「這美麗的東西不久即成灰燼，那麼，真實的金閣寺便和我幻想中的金閣一模一樣了。」
後來經過重建，這座三層分別表現平安時代貴族、日本武士與襌宗佛殿建築風格的「舍利殿」成為了世界文化遺產。只見那象徵吉祥的金鳳凰，默默在寶塔頂端守護這經歷劫難的寺院。
「龍門瀑」，鯉魚逆流而上，偶有一躍龍門而過者，便化成騰飛九天之上的蒼龍。這座瀑布雖然小巧，但其立志遠大，可見寺院的主人足利義滿大將軍並未有因為出家而放下對權利與地位的執著呢！
在金閣寺裡，清幽的環境蘊藏著大將軍唯我獨尊的志向，足以讓人為之神往不已。
