August 27 -- Steemit Ramble #114 -- Curating Great Posts for You

Almost the end of August and I’ve had the AC off for several days. I suspect the cooler temps are being influenced by Harvey which is currently pounding Texas. I’ve always been amazed how far out the influence of hurricanes can spread.

Been looking at the reports of the devastation that is being left in the wake of Harvey and feel very fortunate that I live where I am. I hope any of you either in the area or have people you care about there, will be okay.

Onward to today’s rambling

Coffee Time Meditation #2 -- Aug. 27th

This new account, @pathtosuccess, on Steemit has started a series of inspirational quotes. While there are several accounts I see that share quotes, I usually pass them by. Anyone can throw a quote up as a quick post. This account shares some reflection on the quote and some information on the author of the quote. I like the format.

Introducing Steemporium!!

One of the goals the creators of STEEM had was to see an ecosystem develop where STEEM and SBD can be spent to purchase products and services. @jonny-clearwater and @steemitqa have brought Steemporium, a place to buy merchandise designed by the artists on Steemit. Nice work guys.

A First Hand Account Of A Bizarre Witch Trial in 1736 Bedfordshire, England

Witch trials of old are one of the more tragic demonstrations of ignorance and fear resulting in the death of those who are different. @mdwestlifecrisis writes an excellent post on just one of those incidents and one person’s effort to head off the ignorant.

Success Is Something That Is On A Deeper Level - {The Law Of Attraction} - T.L.O.A. Series Pt. 4

The Law of Attraction is a subject that often catches my attention. I don’t mean the claims of being able to sit and dream something into existence. More in the sense that where your attention goes, your results will follow sort of approach. @alex-icey has a series of posts that take the latter approach. A good read.

WHAT GOES AROUND C0MES AROUND

There are many variations of this story around but I never tire of seeing them. They remind me to do things out of the goodness of who you are, not in expectation of reward. Reward will come in some form when you least expect it, because you don’t expect it. @hossainsohag has done a great job presenting this post.

Dr. The Leaping Koala_ my journey in life # 3_ Should you forgive?

Forgiveness can be a very difficult subject to wrap your thoughts around. Most of us think that in order to forgive someone for the wrong they have done then the person doing the wrong needs to admit and accept they did wrong and seek forgiveness. There is a certain satisfaction in that scenario but, the real satisfaction is in being able to rid yourself of the energy you are using up by holding onto the hurt the other person caused.

I have an older sibling who is nursing some sort of hurt toward me that erupted after our last parent passed away. I have no idea what I’ve supposed to have done. For all I know, it could be some resentment stemming from our childhood. It bothered me at first, now, I just let it go. It’s his hurt and anger to carry.

I’ve had two encounters with him since then.

In the first one, he went out of his way to make sure we didn’t have eye contact. The rest of his immediate family all came and had a visit with me during the event. Had I made eye contact I had planned on acknowledging him. I thought it might be an opportunity to break down his wall a bit.

He was so deliberate about keeping the wall in place, it made it very easy for me to realize that he was using a lot of energy holding onto whatever anger he had. Me, I have other things to do with my energy.

I digress. @theleapingkoala has written a very thoughtful post on the topic of forgiveness. Well worth taking a thoughtful read of.

What is Life?

@bp9930 talks about his definition of life being linked to electric currents. He presents his argument in a very interesting and thought provoking manner. I have always believed there are forces active in our lives that we neither see nor feel but they drive events more than any person could.

Writing Grit: If you want to write, you have to read

@redhens writes a lovely piece on the value and importance of being a good and prolific reader in order to develop the craft of writing well. It’s one of the reasons I justify doing the Steemit Ramble, I can read that much more than I normally do in order to actually write it.

What is inflammation? And what are the foods you should avoid to recover from inflammation.

@antonyjoseph posts on the topic of inflammation and the foods that can cause inflammation in our bodies. Inflammation is the root cause of many if not most of the chronic health conditions we suffer from. Very few doctors really pay attention to the impact of our diet on the illnesses they are treating.

Wrap-up on Day 114

Another day with a lot of fluff posts. Sundays seem to be really bad for fluff posts. I guess people have things they want to do and just toss up a post for the sake of getting one up there.

Don’t forget to nominate good posts you have found. See below.
