Brooklyn insurance lawyer James Donovan, Soviet spy Rudolf Abel's attorney, while working at the Nuremberg trials, on the personal staff of Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, was awarded the Legion of Merit Medal. Donovan retired as a US Navy commander.

Named after the Glienicke Palace, the Glienicke Bridge Glienicker Brücke, across the Havel River in Germany, connects Berlin's Wannsee district with Brandenburg's capital Potsdam.

During the Cold War, the Glienicke Bridge was a restricted border crossing between Potsdam in East Germany & West Berlin. USA & USSR used the Glienicke Bridge to trade captured spies.
