Big mouth는 입이 크다는 얘기잖아? '입큰'이라니, 혹시 화장품인가? 미남, 미녀라는 뜻인가?
Today's expression is a big mouth. It doesn't have to do with the size of your mouth. It means someone who doesn't keep a secret, who tells everything to everyone. In Korean we say '입이 가볍다'. It literally means someone has a light mouth, which means someone who can't keep a secret. '입이 무겁다' literally means someone has a heavy mouth, which means someone doesn't tell things to other people or keeps a secret. It's interesting to know that both languages use 'mouth' for the same expression, but in Korean we mention the weight of mouth and in English we mention the size of mouth.

보면 알겠지만 big mouth가 하나의 단어로 쓰일 때는 "비밀을 누설하는 사람, 수다쟁이, 입이 가벼운 사람"이라는 뜻을 가진다.
문장 안에서는 be동사나 have를 써서 He/she is a big mouth 혹은 He/she has a big mouth라고 쓴다.
우리말에서는 "입이 가볍다"라고 입의 무게로 표현하는데 반해, 같은 표현을 영어에서는 "입이 크다"라고 입의 크기로 표현한다는 게 참 재미있다. 나만 재미있나?
