Coffee Time Meditation #6 -- Aug. 31st

A ten year commitment is required, if you want to make an impact

Thoughts on Today’s Quote

My first thoughts when I looked at this quote was “why would anyone bother with anything then?” If you can’t even start to think about your goal having any impact until ten years has gone by, that seems pretty disheartening.

Then I thought about it a bit longer and considered that if I was to start a project, like for example, writing on Steemit and I couldn’t see myself still doing that and being successful in ten years, why would I start?

I am at a point in my life that I could be looking at short term time frames for projects. Five years seems better than ten years to make an impact. It’s quicker, but would it be as much of an impact as what I could do in ten years?

What impact do I actually want to see?

I think the greatest impact I could make is to do something that matters in someone else’s life. It could be by writing words that matter to them or to create a service or product that helps their life be better.

Leastwise, that is the impact I’ve always wanted to make. I may be able to do so yet before my time on this earth passes by.

What impact do you want to make? Will it take ten years?

Who is the author?

I wasn’t able to locate who is credited with this quote. I did find something very close written by Seth Godin. He wrote, “ a ten-year commitment is precisely what's required if you want to be sure to make an impact.” He wrote it in one of his very terse blog posts

*I will try to find information on the author of the quotes I share. I wont always be successful.

Don’t know about you, but I find it interesting to know who the person was that anyone took the time to record or quote that person.*

About Coffee Time Meditation

I love being inspired by other people’s quotes. I thought I’d start sharing some quotes that inspire me along with my own thoughts the quote evokes within me. So, think of someone, like me, sitting quietly with the first fresh coffee of the day and mediating about the words of the quote. That would be me, or it could be you.

I invite you to share your own thoughts on the quote in the comments.
