❓Answering Common Questions: Needing feedback on your posts? Try MSP-Workshop! 🆘

Sometimes simply being referred to a guide isn't enough.

Often what's needed is to have somebody look over your content or a specific post and give you very concrete suggestions.

It can be really tough finding that person willing to take the time (and yes, this really does take a good chunk of time) to work with you on your posts. I'm sure many of you have tried asking in various chats, comments and discords for some feedback, often getting no response, finding them lacking or just too general to help. So where can you turn??

I give you the @MinnowSupport's Project (MSP):

MSP-Workshop!!

You can find them on @MinnowSupport's Discord server in the MSP-Workshop room by clicking HERE:

Q: What sort of things do they help with?

Having been a major playing in providing Mentoring on here many months ago...
Please be willing to read up on guides and try a few things yourself FIRST. It takes EVERYBODY at least a little time to just work their way around here. If you ask for good reference material in just about any active steem.chat or discord channel, you'll get at least some quality responses.

What that said...

It's always easier to ask something more specific rather than just "Help me make more money on Steemit." This typically ends up leading to general answers, just like in all the guides out there. While it's not bad to be asking general questions, that's what the guides out there are for. Personally, I've preferred for people to read up on what they can, try things out and then look for some personalized mentoring afterwards. Remember that everybody's time on here is limited and what is spent mentoring is time taken away from them being with family, hobbies, their own posts, etc.

Some more specific questions including things like:

  • Formatting
  • Tags
  • Titles
  • Thumbnails
  • Getting views
  • Getting followers

A few not listed in the Workshops reference post but probably available are:

  • Scannabillity
  • Ease of reading
  • Places to find good reference material on the above topics (versus just any topic outside this scope)

The overall BENEFIT of having somebody directly working with you is that they can typically provide you with very specific things to change or try out. While it's never a guarantee you'll see an immediate impact, it will help your odds.

Q: How can I ask them to help? Are there any rules?

Some of these are a matter of respecting peoples limited time and others are to prevent people from just dropping endless amounts of promotion links into the channel. (It sucks having to police these links on top of being time consuming!)

Obviously, you'll need to have joined @MinnowSupports PAL Network Discord and find the MSP-Workshop channel by clicking HERE: https://discord.gg/FfqmmKV

Outside of this:

  1. Make a copy of your raw post (out of the editor, not the preview) so it keeps the formatting pieces. Then just paste and save it in a text (.txt), rich text format (.rtf) or on Pastebin. The channel doesn't allow any direct Steemit links to help prevent the need to police for promotion posts.

  2. Be Patient. Most the time, there are TONS of people lined up to get help, with only so many Mentors being available.

  3. If you are in a hurry, PLACE A BOUNTY on helping you out, like saying you'll offer some SBD to the Mentor that comes to help you. Most the time those offering to pay a bit will get picked up sooner than those getting it for free. You can choose the amount for the bounty...longer posts may warrant a larger bounty.

  4. Proofread your own work at least once, ideally more...before submitting it to be looked at. It's expected that there may be errors or things that don't flow well, but at least you took most of them out ahead of time. Again, this is all with the mentality of using the Mentors time effectively to let them help more people.

  5. Only submit on post at a time to have a mentor look over. This lets the mentors provide their services to more users.

  6. Don't Take it Personally. It doesn't YOU absolutely NO good to just have someone that smiles and nods while telling you the post is great. Mentors are there to be critical to help you be a better writer, content creator, etc. Afterall...you probably wouldn't be asking for help if you were achieving what you were wanting.

Q: Who are the people currently helping to give one-on-one Help?

This initiative is being headed up by @r0nd0n.
Others currently helping out include:
@cryptonfused
@rhondak
@lifewithcrypto
@iddm1dm and
@carolkean

Extra thank you to @aggroed for leading the @MinnowSupport project in general as well as the groups backing from @someguy123, @teamsteem, @ausbitbank, @thecryptodrive , @neoxian, @theprophet0 and @acidyo! In my opinion all of these guys are worthy of your witness votes!

Q: How can I help out or be a Mentor?

The easiest way is to just hangout in the MSP-Workshop Channel providing feedback or answering questions for others in there. (Please try to provide good, accurate information or suggestions. Sometimes it's better to just say "I don't know.")

If you're a veteran Steemit user or content creator, especially if in a specialty area (poetry, science, fiction, etc), you can send a direct message in discord to r0nd0n#5176.

Remember that ALL of my guide posts are eligible to be added as entries to the Steem Center Wiki or Operation Translation.

Feel free to ask me anything. I'm here to Help!

I've had slow response times lately, but I try to get a response to every question.
