🗞 From Cardano to Ethereum, 2020 Could Be Deciding Year for Proof-of-Stake

2020 will be the year proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchains finally break out. Maybe.

Two of the industry’s most hotly anticipated PoS networks are scheduled to (re)launch in Q1 – namely ethereum and Cardano.

The second largest blockchain platform in the world by market capitalization, ethereum has been looking to shift to PoS since 2014. Co-founder Vitalik Buterin sees PoS as key to ethereum reaching maturity.

“Ethereum 1.0 is a couple of people’s scrappy attempt to build the world computer; Ethereum 2.0 [with PoS] will actually be the world computer,” he has said.

Conceptually, PoS has been around since 2012, but its applications thus far on blockchain platforms, such as EOS, Tezos, Cosmos and others, haven’t been proven to outperform proof-of-work (PoW) platforms in usage or market value (bitcoin or ethereum, for instance).

🗞 Overstock-Funded Bankorus Has No Money or Staff, Says $1M Shareholder

The largest shareholder in Overstock-funded blockchain wealth management startup Bankorus has claimed that the firm has no money left.

In a statement issued on Oct. 6, Sonic Zhang said that previous funding deals for Bankorus had fallen through and that all its employees have resigned.

Zhang: Bankorus “has run out of cash”

As a contributor of more than $1 million to the company, Zhang said that he learned of the problems from its co-founder, Gregory van den Bergh, in July.

“Bankorus has run out of cash, because the second round investors pulled their funds,” Zhang wrote.

🗞 Hyperledger Blockchain Group Weighs Changes to Fix Election Issues

The Hyperledger blockchain consortium’s technical steering committee (TSC) is discussing potential changes to its elections in hopes of boosting voter turnout.

On Wednesday, Arnaud Le Hors, a blockchain staff member at IBM and TSC chair for 2019-2020, placed on the committee’s agenda five proposals to spread awareness and encourage participation in the annual elections. The suggestions came from Hyperledger executive director Brian Behlendorf, who had sent them to the TSC mailing list.

The proposals were added to a backlog of agenda items concerning governance, including a motion to add four seats to the TSC for the 2019-2020 term and fill them with the runners-up from the last election. Other agenda items include adding a vice-chair who would fill in when the chair is unavailable. On Friday, Le Hors announced that Dan Middleton, a principal engineer with Intel who came second place in the election, was the de facto vice-chair.

🗞 John McAfee’s Decentralized Crypto Exchange Launches in Beta

American entrepreneur and vocal crypto advocate John McAfee has launched a decentralized exchange (DEX) running on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain.

McAfee DEX is set to run in a beta release status as of Oct. 7, according to the new platform’s official website and McAfee’s personal Twitter feed.

“Centralized exchanges are our weak point”

On Oct. 5, McAfee’s tweet unveiled the new platform, stating that “it takes time for enough users to join to make it real, but if you play, and be patient,” the exchange can serve as “the door that frees us from Government's cornerstone of control: Fiat currencies. It can't be shut down.”

In an embedded video, McAfee argues that the cryptocurrency community faces the question of whether its aspirations are limited to merely expanding the possibilities for pure speculation — “all about money” — or are about an ideal, namely freedom.

🗞Top-5 Crypto Performers: LINK, TRX, EOS, XRP, ADA

Fundstrat Global Advisors co-founder Tom Lee believes that Bitcoin does well when the S&P 500 market index moves up. Though Bitcoin might act as a macro hedge against global turmoil in some instances, it has largely performed negatively when the S&P 500 has dropped. It will be interesting to see how Bitcoin moves in the next few weeks.

Bakkt’s launch did not generate the interest it was expected to do, which led some to blame it as the reason for the recent drop in Bitcoin. However, institutional traders do not jump in without testing waters. In a press release, Intercontinental Exchange stated that Bakkt completed its first block trade, executed between Galaxy Digital and XBTO on Oct. 1. Following the trade, XBTO said the platform “can accommodate large trades.”

LINK/USD

Chainlink (Link) is the top performer of the past seven days. It has risen about 25% during the period. This is the second consecutive week that the cryptocurrency has found a place among the top performers. Does it indicate a change in trend? Let’s analyze its chart.

TRX/USD

In order to find loopholes in their security systems, companies offer bug bounties to hackers to find bugs and submit a vulnerability report. The Tron Foundation is the third-largest spender on such bug bounties trailing EOS and Coinbase.

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yersterday :

Here is the current chart :

Yesterday, we were still on the road to go test the resistance line at 0.155$ but the correction on the BTC is pausing this objective. However, I think all is not lost and that we could reach that level as soon as the BTC will do another UP. Steem looks in better health since some days. Let's hope that STEEMIT won't start again to sell its stake.
