Part IX
Matthew and his group rushed towards the castle while avoiding all the prying eyes on the way. Inside the castle, Matthew present the captured nobleman to the king and explained about the assassin and the ambush.
Knowing that Matthew and his group almost died, the king was incensed. Despite the peril that the kingdom is about to face, some people were taking advantage of the conflict to dethrone him.
After sending Matthew back, the king summoned all lords and nobles of the kingdom. Meanwhile at the blacksmith workshop where Matthew is working on...
"Why are you guys here?" Matthew asked confused.
"What kind of question is that? Is this how you treat the people who helped you?" Aria asked angrily.
"That's not what I mean, I'm just asking," said Matthew frustratingly.
"Ignore her tantrums, she's actually looking forward to see you again," Boris declared.
"Huh?" Exclaimed Matthew.
"W-what nonsense are you saying! Who's wants to see this guy?" Aria exclaimed embarrasingly.
While they're bickering, Amy arrives with a basket of food, and was surprised to see Aria and Boris.
"What are you guys doing here?" Amy asked the two.
"They come to visit," said Matthew.
"Really?" Amy asked.
Shee then greets the two then stare at Aria. Her womanly instinct is telling him that she's not here to visit.
Being stared by Amy, Aria is feeling flustered.
"What is it?" She asked
"Nothing..." answered Amy.
Sensing that the atmosphere is getting tense, Boris tries to divert the attention to something else. He then asked about the basket of food.
"Oh? This is mine and Matthew's' lunch," answered Amy nonchalantly.
Hearing the answer, Boris teases Matthew. Telling him that his lucky to have a girl bring him lunch.
"What so strange about that? We're childhood friend and she brings me food from time to time," Matthew answered.
Seeing Amy's displeased reaction, Boris curses Matthew inside his mind. Blaming the bastard for being as dull as a rock, even a blind man can see that there's more to it than what he'd said.
Thomas sensing the weird atmosphere and then the angry look from Amy, and the strange gaze from Aria, Matthew invites everyone inside. He then asked the other purpose of the visit.
Aria and Boris' expression became serious after hearing the question. Then, Aria looked at Boris, wanting him to explain.
"We're actually here to protect you," declared Boris.
"What? Is it about the assassination and the ambush?" Matthew asked solemnly.
Borris nodded, exclaiming that it is related but the real reason is the rebellion and the furge that ensued.
