Only in the South
and only in Tennessee
will you find this sign
Cori MacNaughton
Marek and I spent a large part of today visiting our local farmer's markets, green markets and flea markets, during the course of which, I came across this sign, which was too perfectly perfect not to share.
S.D. Lauder??? Really??? Clearly whomever wrote the note had only heard the name, and not read it, as even though that is not properly pronounced, it is in fact how many Americans say it. And, of course, what it should say is Estée Lauder, but this label cracked me up more than anything else I saw today, which is saying a lot. ;-)
And then there was this sign. I would credit the artist if I could, but obviously this is one of the generic metal signs so common to flea markets, which rarely if ever credit the artist. But it did make me laugh out loud.
And here, to give it more context, is how they had it hanging in the entrance to their booth, with its complementary signs, and a couple Confederate flags for good measure. As I said, Only in the South.
Now before some take offense, let it be known that while I am an avowed liberal (with conservative leanings) originally from Los Angeles, California, I have actually lived in the South for most of my adult life, from age 25, first in Tampa Bay, Florida, and now in Tennessee. And I love the South, I really do.
That said, I have no trouble seeing the humor in it, which is rife, any more than I do seeing the humor in my native California, which is also rife. Humans are funny and contrary beings, no matter where in the globe you travel, and California and the South just happen to be among the funniest.
And, on occasion, the most tragic. But such is life and the human condition. Life itself is a tragicomedy.
All photos were taken with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smart phone.
And I would love to hear your take in the comments.

Melaleuca, a company that has been making natural, eco-friendly
products since the 1980s, that not only work as well as
chemically laden versions from the supermarket,
but are safer, and typically save money overall in addition.
I was introduced to them by a co-worker in 1990, lost track
of them, and was thrilled to find them again about a year
and a half ago. I strongly recommend their products.

The photo of our dog, Lolo, and our late cat, Miod, I took as they were cooperatively begging at the dinner table, despite our longstanding rule of not feeding them from the table.
You can see how much that deterred them both.
