This report is an analysis of the number and type of contributions sent for review, and the success/fail rate of each contribution type.

Recent reports of this type are listed here.

I will aim to provide this report on a weekly basis along with a monthly summary in the final week of each month. This will allow contributors and 'employees' of utopian.io to keep in touch with how the platform is progressing with regards to approval percentages and number of Contribution types being submitted.

Assumptions

Currently, there is no indicator for 'approved' or 'rejected' contributions to utopian.io on the Steem Blockchain.

In this report, 'Approved' contributions have been voted on by @utopian-io.

'Rejected' contributions have not received a vote from @utopian-io.

1. Contributions Summary

For the week, December 2017 - 22nd - 29th inclusive, the SteemSQL DataBase holds a total of 3854 potential contributions to utopian-io. This is yet another huge increase, 39% on the previous weeks' total which was 2775.

2690 of these contributions have been approved, almost 800 more more than the previous week.

Despite this huge increase in contributions, the approval percentage has climbed 2% from the previous week to 70%.

The Contributions offered can be any one of the following types:

This weeks data, split into Contribution types is shown in the pie chart below:

conts.png

What is immediately noticeable is that the 'Translations' category has supplied 50% of all the contributions for this current week. More on this later in the report.

2 Contributions by Type

In this section we take a look a few of the individual contribution types of interest.

A full list of contribution types is listed further below with associated figures and analysis.

Translations - Approvals / Rejections

trans.png

A 77% success rate with almost 1500 approved 'Translation' contributions in a single week - This is by far the fastest growing contribution category for utopian-io.

If we take a look back at the data since the beginning of the project, and in particular the last four weeks, we can see the contribution numbers doubling each week.

80%73%75%74%58%78%75%76%77%

The chart illustrates clearly the rapid week-on-week rise of this contribution Category. Also interesting to note is the stable acceptance % over the past 4 weeks, which has varied 4% .

image.png

It seems unreasonable to suggest that we could be looking at 4000 contributions for 'Translations' alone next week, with 3000 of these being approved - These are the figures the current trend suggests though - impressive!

I believe a 'suggestion' has been put forward to include 'Language' when submitting a 'Translation' contribution. I fully support this and think it will add value and further analysis opportunities.

All contribution types

The following table shows all types and totals of contributions submitted, with their approval % in the end column.

image.png

A good week for 'Video-Tutorials' and 'Translations' with an approval success rate of better than 3 out of every 4 contributions.

'Development' and 'Graphics' categories also performed well this past week almost reaching a 75% approval percentage.

Not a great week for contributors submitting 'Documentation', 'Bug-hunting', and in particular, 'Copywriting' work. All these categories achieved less than an 50% approval rate, with 'Copywriting' succeeding in only 2 from 8 contributions.

As predicted last week, the 'Translations' category exploded past 1000 approved contributions in a single week. When you take a look back at the data and see that one month ago in week 3 of November, there were just over 1000 contributions across all categories, this number is huge.

3. Summary Analysis

As the weeks' pass and the data collected expands, it is possible to learn more about the developing trends in the utopian-io ecosystem.

The number of contributions continues to rise week-by-week at an impressive rate.

Another record week for submissions approved contributions!

The level of growth in Contributions submitted to utopian-io is, I think, beyond expectations first thought of before the project began.

It is very possible that in the next 7 days there could be 5000 contributions made, and somewhere in the region of 4000 approvals. This would be in-line with previous growth rates and approval percentages.

Summary

I find it difficult to believe that the number of submissions, and approved submissions can continue increasing at this rate. As a member of the moderation team, I have noticed an increase in new moderators, particularly to focus on the rapid rise of 'Translation' submissions. Its highly likely the team will need to grow further in order to cope with the weekly influx of content.

During this past week, utopian-io reached 10,000 approved submissions.

Congratulations to all involved for another record breaking week at utopian-io!

4. Tools used to gather this data and compile report

The data is sourced from SteemSQL - A publicly available SQL database with all the blockchain data held within (Data is normally 1/2 hours delayed from live)

The SQL queries to extra to the data have been produced in both SQL Server Personal Edition and LINQPAD 5.

The charts used to present the data were produced using MS Excel.

This data was compiled on the 2nd January 2018 at 10:00 am CET

I am part of a Steemit Business Intelligence community. We all post under the tag #bisteemit. If you have analysis you would like to be carried out on utopian-io/Steem data, please do contact me or any of the #bisteemit team and we will do our best to help you.
