Golem (GNT)
Like Gridcoin, Golem is a decentralized peer-to-peer network that focus on sharing and using computing power from computers and data centers to complete tasks more efficient and effective.
Providers can rent out their unused computing power to requestors who use that computing power to complete tasks such as CGI animation and video rendering.
There is a huge industry for CGI animation with render farms pulling in at least $3 billion annually. This is the market Golem is targeting as the first adopters because of the significant improvements Golem provides this industry. Research shows that you can run rendering with less cost and the same (if not better) performance compared to render farms.
Is the anticipation of the release of the first version of Golem, Golem Brass, by the end of Q1 causing the recent price boost of over 20%?

Qtum (QTUM)
Qtum is a blockchain application system that combines a fork of Bitcoin and smart contracts to create a hybrid consensus that allows for backward functionality and integration with many current blockchains.
Qtum uses the UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) model for dealing with smart contracts. This is debated because many see this as a backward step in blockchain technology because there are serious limitations when performing smart contracts with UTXO (Ethereum no longer uses to help run its smart contracts).
It's team has some interesting history and is going against some tough competition with EOS, NEO, Lisk, and others being part of the blockchain application platform industry.
