30 Days of Indonesia #6 || Es Blewah

Good morning 🌻

Back to school today for us here in BC, Canada. We had long weekend as it was Victoria Day and I spent my time watching the Royal Wedding, Billboard Awards, and Wakanda Forever 😁 My husband on the other hand, got sunburnt as he cleaned the gravels off the lawn with his power broom, cut the grasses on front and back yard, and helped with house chores. SCORED 🀣 Wife of the year here 🀣 I napped a lot too πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

Too bad the boys bickered too much though πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š Silly boys.

Yesterday I did not make anything fancy. It was darn hot to turn on the oven, the stove, the TV, the hairdrier. Everything heat up the house boo-hoo. So I prepared cold drink instead desserts.

This one is called Es Blewah.

You can either use cantaloupe or honeydew. It's very refreshing. You can have additional goodies in it, or just the fruit and the syrup. Some would add young coconut meat, grass jelly, etc., but I added basil seeds in mine 😊

ingredients

  • 1 cantaloupe
  • 1 c sugar
  • 3 c water
  • 1 screw pine leaf, knotted
  • 1 tbsp basil seeds (you might be able to subs them with chia seeds, see note)
  • crashed ice/ice cubes

1526996610335.jpg

how to

  • shred cantaloupe meat or slice them long and thinly

1526996582514.jpg

  • bring sugar, water, and screw pine to boil for 5 minutes, set aside to cool

1526996556609.jpg

  • once syrup is cooled, drop and stir 1 tbsp basil seeds, let bloom

1526996633290.jpg

1526996647683.jpg

  • mix cantaloupe and syrup
  • serve chilled/with ice cubes

Note: basil seeds are easily blooming, within seconds, unlike chia seeds, and they dont clump

Pagi teman (malam kalian)

Kakak perempuanku suka bikin es blewah, masa kami kecil2 dulu

Kemarin pas chatting sama adik dan nanya gimana dulu kalau kita bikin es blewah, sepertinya berbeda dengan resep2 yang ada di internet, adik ga ingat masa kecil euy, soalnya sekarang kalau bikin, campur sirup botolan, biar ga repot πŸ˜…

Ya udah deh, mengarang indah ini hasilnya

Kata anakku yang sulung, "ini enak, Ma, mirip es Meksiko tempo hari" 🀣 Iya aku pernah posting resep es Meksiko beberapa bulan yang lalu d Steemit. Masih ingat dia ternyata 🀣

  • 1 gelas gula
  • 3 gelas air
  • 1 ikat pandan
