Dear Jesús:
It’s even o’clock when I start this letter. Mostly I receive your letter on Friday, but this time on wedneysday. The letter was very late, I could not start writing you wednesday or thursday, because I was very busy then. Thursday I must go dancing. I mean by that Jesús: foxtrot, tango, wals (vals en spain) etc. It is very nice to do that. Jesús, I am sorry I was wrong with your name. But in Holland we pronounce your name like Gesus. I shall try to write it correct.
I was very glad with the photo you send me. It is very nice. Now it hangs on the wall in my bedroom. Where did you get it? I understand it was taken by “FOTO SPRINT”. But usely it’s black –white and now it was coloured. I will send you a photo. It is taken in Maddox. My brother (made that photo). I can’t send you a photo of my short hair, because I still have not got one. Maybe the next time.
When you receive this letter, I suppose your holiday is finished. Well, Jesús, I hope you had got a good and nice holiday. But where did you go? I think you stayed with your parents (father= mother), because I had to send my letter to that adress. Maybe you will tell me about your holiday in the next letter.
You have not got long days in the week. Only 8:30 till 14:30. I must work eight hours a day. I said I was going change of job, because there was not much to do. It is very different every week. Now I have had a very busy week, there was very much to do. But two weeks ago, there was not much to do. I am going change of job, because the factory where I work is going to finish (en quiebra) You understand? I found that Spanish word in the dictionary. That U was not working very hard. I explaned it wrong to you.
I have to breakfast out of my house. Only at noon I do eat in my office. My mother prepares my bread and tee. Than I take that to my work.
The last letter you wrote me, it was difficult to write me in French, but now you wrote that it was difficult in English. You can write me in whatever you like. I know what it is, if it is difficult. Than you need a dictionary. To write English is very easy for me, than I do not need a dictionary. I do not have to write it into Hollands first.
I don’t understand it is raining in Barcelona. Every day we look at the forecast at t.v. (pronóstico del tiempo). It says it’s nice weather in Barcelona (28 centigrado). Well you shall know it better.
Now I am going to tell something about myself (it’s not so much) I am also sentimental and romantic. And I am católico romano. I never go to church. You said:”I go not never to the church” I think you mean by that: “I always go to the church” or “I never go to the church.” The word not means en españa: no. The word “never” means: jamas So you said: Yo ir no jamás….
Jesús, you asked me of I wanted to write the words and how to read it, but I don’t know how to do. You just pronounce them how I write it. You say: Iren, but the pronounciation is: Ireen. First I throught you could not pronounce the ee, but you can say Jesús, your name is also pronounced with duble ee. So you can say it.
Eet smakelijk (eet sma-ke-luk) Is that alright? Now some other words, first I will teach you the months (maanden)
Ja-nu-a-ri, fe-bru-a-ri, maart, a-pril, mei, ju-ni (pronounced like j-yo), ju-li, au-gus-tus,sep-tem-ber, ok-to-ber, no-vem-ber, de-cem-ber.
The days: dagen
Maan-dag, dins-dag, woens-dag, don-der-dag, vrij-dag, zaterdag, zon-dag.
