Gig Reflections: @stellabelle's Kansas City Summer Meetup: I love meeting Steemians.
Yesterday's meetup in Kansas City has my heart overflowing. It was awesome to see some Steemian friends I hadn't seen since the Springfield meetup ( @stellabelle & @papa-pepper) or when I was on @steemittalk ( @sykochica ), and get to have some great conversation...meaningful conversation.
Intro: Jessamyn Orchard - songwriter, thinker, creator
I'm Jessamyn. I'm a songwriter, amateur photographer and mixed media artist, a vaper, as well as a philosopher. I enjoy creating lots of things, and sharing those things with people. I taught high school English for 4 years and I love meeting new people and enjoying the symbiosis of life. I am excited to be here with you.

I've had the pleasure of meeting an array of artists, photographers, producers, and songwriters over the course of my time on the website, and that network is about to get even more tightly knit.

The Steemit community made this possible. I can't thank you all enough.
I will be playing a special set of originals for you today, as well as talking a bit about the origins of the songs, hopefully getting to know you all better in the process. I cannot wait. I feel like a kid waking up on Christmas morning.
💚500 Followers! Thank you so much, Steemit.💚
When I joined Steemit in October, I had no idea of the family and community I would find here. I'm feeling thankful. Especially with the launch of the Steemit Local Music Society on Discord, I've really found a home here, and I am very grateful to this amazing community.
Gig Reflections: The "In Party" at Hotel Vandivort
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to play some tunes for the fine folks in the lobby of Hotel Vandivort, downtown Springfield, MO's premier luxury boutique hotel, for The In Party, which is a networking event for young-regional professionals, and features local artwork, as well as thematic weeks raising awareness and money for charities, business projects, and other goings-on about the area.
Steemit-Exclusive Demo from Electronic Cassette: "vapor trails"
Electronic Cassette is a Steemit-based music/art project by @jessamynorchard, and its aim is to expand the capabilities of my available technologies (i.e. I don't own a computer) to make sounds and songs...some instrumental and some with words, but it's mainly about expanding the technologies and experimenting. I share the creative process with Steemit, and will eventually be releasing a cassette tape for purchase on the platform with the finished versions of these demos.
Open Mic Week 38: "Bloodbuzz, Ohio" (The National cover)
Here's my Steemit Open Mic entry for Week 38! All of my love and thanks to you, Steemit Open Mic community. :)
This weekend was awesome! Pridefest was great! This was my second year playing Pride in Springfield, and this year had Ryan Dunn on stage with me, rocking that saxophone. Enjoy!
We have created a group on FB exclusively for Steemit musicians for us to network and promote our music-centric posts, and to drive traffic away from FB to Steemit.
Check out the group, view the pinned post, and get further details here.
Steemit-Exclusive track from Electronic Cassette: "literalparticles" (live launchpad one-take demo)
Steemit-Exclusive release - "literalparticles" - new track currently in progress for the upcoming Electronic Cassette project.
Steemit For Musicians Part One: How To Get Started & What's Worked For Me
Are you looking to get involved and get your music heard on Steemit?
#SteemGigs Services I offer: All kinds of fun stuff. :)
I've been a big fan of Fiverr for a while now, so obviously I am really excited to see #steemgigs take off.
Okay, so I haven't been able to shut up lately about this Launchpad situation, and that hasn't changed. As soon as I get my hands on something that makes music, I immediately start writing songs with it...this is no different.
This has been a crazy week! One of those where it felt as time was moving and I was perpetually trying to catch up to it.
[2k16 Holiday Couch Sessions] Day Two: "At Last" (Etta James Cover)
A different song, raw and true, beamed to your ear holes daily from the comfort of my couch from now until Christmas, in gratitude of all the folks on Steemit being so supportive of music, art, and community.

Open Mic Week 36: "16 Bucks" (Original Acoustic Song)
It's been a minute since I've entered Open Mic, and it's been my intention almost every single week, but one thing or another has come up and the week slips away--but not this week.
[Steemit Exclusive First Listen] "Ain't a Kick" Brand Spankin New Original Music @jessamynorchard
I had the opportunity to write another song for Wild Bob's Musical Book Club, which is a special songwriter showcase hosted monthly at Lindbergs Tavern in Springfield, Missouri.
[#originalmusic] Gig Sessions: "Hoxie" - NEW Live Acoustic Looping Performance
Hoxie is one of my favorite original songs to play and sing, and that's probably because of how close it is to my heart, and how much it reminds me of my college years...both the positive and negative.
When do you give up? Do you give up?
I host a monthly open mic night at a little coffeehouse/ DIY space in Springfield and have been trying like hell to build an alternative-acoustic community there. It has been hard. I get a lot of half-commits, and we seldom have many people there. It has been discouraging to say the least. Getting started is hard. Harder than I imagined, honestly.
[#originalmusic] "Hoxie" (includes full backstory, album recording + free download)
I wrote this song in college. It was originally recorded in 2005 and released in 2006.
#originalmusic "I Lose (Revisited)" - Sad Bastard Music by Jessamyn Orchard
Here's a revisited version of my original tune "I Lose," in a bit different style than it's normally played. This is one of those songs that continues to evolve as the years press on.
[Original Music] "I Lose" Live at Hog Roast - Throwback Thursday
So excited to be playing music with my friend Dustin this weekend near our hometown. We have been playing tunes together for over half our lives, and those musical relationships are so amazingly important and Dustin is one of those special people who get me and what it is I'm trying to translate through these songs, and I always enjoy being able to share the stage with him.
[#originalmusic] "I Lose" Live Performance Video ft. Dustin Miller on Upright Bass + Lyrics
Playing music with this guy is so fun. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to play, sing, write, learn from, and record with him for over half my life.
"No More Mixtapes" Acoustic AND Experimental Electronic Versions (two tracks)
"No More Mixtapes" was written when I was going through an incredibly hard time--mentally, spiritually, and emotionally--and I really felt like the prime and best of my life was gone.
[#originalmusic] "Nothing" + Lyrics
This is a song about trying to find peace in chaos, as well as the paradox of being completely alone in a space completely packed with others. Presence isn't always connection, but sometimes we benefit from finding solace in Nothing.
Nothing by Jessamyn Orchard
2k16 Holiday Couch Sessions Day Three and Four: "Nothing" / "Already Gone" #originalmusic
I had a gig two hours away on Saturday night and my plans were to record my Day 3 couch session when I got home. Of course, the snow hit just as I was starting my second set and continued--mixed with freezing rain--all the way back home on roads not meant to be traveled in the weather. We made it back safely, however, I was exhausted from the drive which ended up taking almost twice as long.
[#originalmusic] Holiday Couch Sessions Day One: "One More Time"
My second daily-til-Christmas fun gifts to my Steemit friends for being so awesome and supportive of my music are the Holiday Couch Sessions I'm going to throw for you every day from now until Christmas Day! A different song played for you on the couch at my house (or a couch somewhere) from now until December 25.
Please enjoy this rendition of my original tune, "One More Time," from our set last weekend at The Outland Ballroom, featuring Ryan Dunn on tenor saxophone.
[Steemit Exclusive] "Reasons" (with lyrics) Live at Lindberg's
I usually preface this song with the explanation that it's a song about cheatin' and leavin', and it's called "Reasons."
"Reasons" by Jessamyn Orchard
You come to me
And you kiss my face
And I know this is some kind of treason
You can't tell the sun from a storm
And you cannot find your reasons
You come to me when you are down on your luck
When you cannot find a lover to believe in
You hold me tight, and I will whisper your name
And I'll be those reasons for leavin
I come to you as a friend because I know
That our love, it penetrates all of the seasons
And I don't get how I cannot let this go--
I've been looking, but can't find my reasons
I come to you for a while every year
When I cannot find a lover worth believing
When we've put on the shelf
Both our hearts and our health
Take my hand, love, I'll take you
We're leavin.
"The Terrorist" (Live with Looper) Original Music @jessamynorchard
This is a live looping performance of my original song "The Terrorist" recorded from the stage at the beginning of September in Springfield, Missouri at Moon City Pub.
OpenMic Night Contest Entry - "Peanut Song" (cover) @jessamynorchard
Here is my entry! I was thinking to wait a week, but couldn't find any reason not to jump in now.
I would greatly appreciate your resteems/reblogs!
If you are a musician, get your submissions out here, too! It's a great space.
This song was written by Randall Goodgame, and I am very am thankful he wrote it.
