Missing Mary Jane by @hopehuggs
"Missing Mary Jane"
I once knew a girl called Mary Jane.
She lived down Turtle Lane
In the top flat as high as can be,
With the perfect view of the Willow tree.
She wasn't happy unless
She wore her rainbow dress
And her Mary Jane shoes,
With the moon as her muse.
Her lips were always on fire
With Mary Jane making her higher
Each eye like an arrow head.
She had the best street cred.
Oh I loved that Mary Jane
But it was all in vain.
I dreamed in bed at night
How to act to get her delight.

Night Sweats by @em3
"Night Sweats"
.......the dice were shaken, and fell, and beneath them lay a poem:
Hot sweat burning inside,
And I'm a child trying to get out.
Trapped in a closet on the fifth floor.
Happy or sad, I don't know.
Dense smoke, so I can't see.
I open toward the outside and crawl,
But the direction isn't clear.
The sign's been spun.
And still I crawl across the floor,
knowing my shell is too heavy.
The weight grows unbearable,
pushing the air from my lungs.
Tremors and terrors rise in the dark.
Eerily taunting me in pale gray light.
And there I expire; or do I sleep?
Still pinned to the floor.
Consciousness tangos from the room,
and strange mirages dance.
Fluttering like a million butterflies,
Streams of neon beams batter my brain.
And I awake, drenched in sweat.
......just a dream.

I felt the horror and dread as I imagined it to be a reality I have to say I was relieved to figure at the end it was all a dream :) - @aineyann
Really good poem, and a very different mood... tense and frightening. I loved this line: "Consciousness tangos from the room,
and strange mirages dance." Good luck! 😃 - @geke

Blaming Eurus by @geke
"Blaming Eurus"
A forested fire had raged through the night
'neath a crescent blue hemi-morphite.
What on Earth could be sparking these tree-toking flames?
Thought the moon, hanging vexed, as the scorching increased.
So he questioned the clouds; he demanded some names.
It was Eurus, the wind of the east.
She'd arrived a month early to breathe on the land
but her wheezing had got out of hand.
Now the fires she fueled, past their lines did outgrow.
When she called out for help, the resulting denials
had caused her to then hyperventilate so
that the fires had spired for miles.
But Eurus was only responsible, surely,
for exhaling out prematurely.
It was Thunderbolt's javelin arrow of light
that he crooked down to kindle the tinder to flame.
But the visionless clouds had conspired against her,
in heaping on Eurus the blame.
So the moon donned his tophat with polka dot print;
in his buttonhole, one sprig of mint.
Then he dipped himself down through the penumbral cone
and he gathered the clouds in a cumulus quorem.
“Young Eurus you named as the force to atone.
She was unfairly flagged in this forum.”
Now a drama ensued, as the mayhem of clouds ,
it can rival the violentest crowd.
Soon the cirrus and stratus were coming to blows
and the cumulonimbus was threatening hail.
As the moon blew his whistle to calm down the foes
a green shell was sucked up in the gale.
But poor Eurus was watching; she acted at once
for she saw, in his saving, a bunce.
So up-scooping the turtle, she surfed him on spray,
and the weight of his body that wind did defray.
Blowing turtle shell safely to Banderas Bay,
Eurus saved the reptilian day.
Then the clouds, in their handlessness, clapped for east wind
and decided their blame to rescind.
So the moon sent a summons to Thunderbolt's lair,
where he waits and he readies his charge to unleash,
and demanded the Thunder King mumble a prayer
Asking God for a pastel pastiche.
On the afternoon sky, angels painted an arch
with the colors of blossoms in March,
and by nightfall, the easterly breathing was calm.
Evening Earth ebbed and flowed like an endocrine gland.
Mister moon rode the rainbow up, humming a psalm,
And the turtles slept under the sand.

I am not saying anyone is a bad poet, I will not say that. Instead, I seek to offer you my encouraging and supportive feedback as a fellow poet. My opinion takes into consideration many things that can add or subtract to the value of a poem, including:*
- grammar / Does it make sense?
- flow / Are there any unclosed loopholes that leave me confused?
- rhythm
- rhyme
- imagery / Can I imagine the pictures the words paint?
- feeling / Does it cause a reaction?
- and emotional pull / Do I suddenly have an opinion?
