Exchange Transfer Report: 10/9/2016 to 10/15/2016

exchange_transfer_report9fade.png

This week I added @shapeshiftio, reworked the code to combine @hitbtc-exchange and @hitbtc-payout activity as just hitbtc, and put together an interactive graph of the withdrawal to deposit ratio.

USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the hourly breakdown graphs, I show the USD values using the weighted average for that day. For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I then took the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $0.29820
  • SBD: $0.93242

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $0.41880
  • SBD: $0.92394

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Commentary

  • Last week's STEEM total: -290,926, this week is -379,422.

  • Yet another positive amount of SBD going from exchanges to Steemit accounts at 13,849. I'd like to read into this all sorts of positive things, but it would be pure speculation on my part.

  • Last week, I asked some pretty tough open questions for Dan and Ned. They did not respond, but I did appreciate chatting with @charlieshrem in steem.chat who reminded me of the developer costs he had running his bitcoin startups and suggested they may be pulling out money from their personal steemit accounts to pay for those expenses. He also wrote a great post for those who think the whales are "dumping" their steem. Since we have no direct answers as to Ned and Dan's STEEM finances, we can only speculate. I hope almost $40k this week bought them some great developers. :)

  • As long as you find these reports useful, I will continue to create them, though they do take some time. I have a hunch data like this may be available in the future via tools like @jesta's steemdb.
