The Hudson Institute recommends that Pakistan not be designated a state sponsor of terrorism. Yet.

Ever since Independence from Britain, Pakistan has lurched from coup to coup with intermittent periods of democracy. The current Nawaz Sharif government is one such period of civilian rule, with the military managing defense & foreign affairs.

Pakistan's deep state is a unique cocktail of atomic weapons, terror as an instrument of state policy & Punjabi dominance.

A stable, prospering Pakistan is not only critical to South Asia, but also, to the world.

not with the Pakistani people or the Pakistani nation.

Rather, Washington takes strong exception to specific policy choices by parts of the Pakistan Government – chiefly, the military and intelligence apparatus centered in Rawalpindi, adjacent to the capital, Islamabad – that support the existence and activities of terrorist proxies.
