Sweden! Köttbullar and lingonberry! What else do they offer? A whole lot! And the alternative music scene is no different. I decided to drop one of my most valued names today and here it is: Suma. Never heard of it? You are not alone. Thanks to the collapse in the recording business, the gems are not hyped and exsists like small islands in a vast ocean. You just have to explore them. I think all their four full length albums will find their way into my "album of the day" column. Because I like them a lot and they deserve to be promoted. Solidly rooted in the sludge genre, they represent the more hardcore part of it. With the familiar flavor of doom, psycedelia and stoner.

Suma -Let the Churches Burn (2006)

This is a real long album. 1 hour 10 min to be exact. A handful in other words. And it is a heavy beast. Slow, heavy and hard-hitting. Vocals is not singing, but kind of chanting. Fair enough. Don't try to sing if you can't. So the vox merely functions as a fourth instrument.

Producer is Billy Anderson, who should ring a bell if you haven't been faking it for years. He has worked for Sleep, Melvins, Neurosis, Eyehategod, Acid King and a number of others up through the years. He has in fact done the sound on all the three latest long play releases from Suma.

I have nothing more to say. Except take your time, make sure to forget everything else and enjoy the ride. No fillers, only killers.
