Steemit in Wales - heading for 100% growth - first meetup on 10 February

Steem is definitely on the rise in Wales.

Since my last update in mid December steemit is moving forward on all fronts.

The first meetup is now confirmed for Saturday 10 February.

Numbers of active steemians are increasing.

And Wales has its first dolphin (that I know of).

First Wales steemit meetup : Saturday 10 February

The first Wales meetup has now been confirmed for Saturday 10 February.

It will take place in Lampeter in south Ceredigion at the Victoria Hall during the bimonthly People's Market.

The market runs from 10am to 1pm. The plan is to have the actual meeting from 11am.

Before the meeting, and possibly afterwards depending on how long the meeting lasts, I am hoping to have at least computer or laptop available to demonstrate and introduce steemit to members of the public at the People's Market.

The local community newspaper, Grapevine, has kindly offered to include a feature on the meetup in their next edition that will come out 10 days before the meetup.

Grapevine is a terrific community newspaper that covers Lampeter and the surrounding hinterland. It has been running for around 5 years now. It has a print-run of 2,500 and is one of the primary means of communication in the local community. You can check out past issues through Issuu :

New steemians in Wales

When I started this push to promote steem in Wales there were only 15 active steemians in the whole country.

To put down some marker of progress I set the target of a 100% increase in active steemians - ideally by the time the meetup comes round.

Since then we have managed to onboard 6 new Wales-based steemians that we know of.

I have another five in the process of signing up. There are also bound to be a few others through general signups to steemit that are based in Wales.

It is looking good to reach the 100% growth target.

The new steemians in Wales include :

@cryptocariad
@cryptojelly
@petroneptoyume
@timmartin
@tinygalaxy

Hopefully they will be able to make it along to the meetup, along with the others who have already expressed interest in attending :

@pennsif, @stevejhuggett, @guided, @nicholas.leslie, @mivstar, @pumpkinsandcats, @artystuff, @growthtools, @theadmiral0 and possibly @jen0revision.

If you know of any other new steemians in Wales please do let me know.

A Dolphin in Wales

Just before the end of the year I reached Dolphin status with over 5000 SP.

As far as I know I am the first Dolphin in Wales - certainly the only currently active one.

As well as allowing me to swim happily around Cardigan Bay this does make my upvote worth a little more (currently around $2.60 at full power).

I am happy to use some of this to support steemians in Wales - particularly new ones to give them a boost.

Feel free to drop your posts into the #post-promotion channel on the Wales Discord server so I see them.

@stephenkendal and @starkerz of the #promo-steem / #promo-uk team have been very supportive in getting steemit moving in Wales.

Stephen has kindly provided a list of all the Wales related users on steemit. Most of these don't appear active at the moment. I am hoping news of a meetup in Wales might revive there interest in steemit.

Even if you are not interested in a 'real-life' meetup it would still be good to connect.

Steem is definitely on the up in Wales.

Let's get the Welsh dragon roaring on steemit...
