Exchange Transfer Report: 2/12/2017 to 2/18/2017

exchange_transfer_report9fade.png

USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the hourly breakdown graphs, I show the USD values using the weighted average for that day. For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I then took the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $0.13477
  • SBD: $0.99728

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $0.15198
  • SBD: $0.99869

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

In past reports, I've included hourly breakdowns of the STEEM, SBD, and USD exchange amounts on all the various exchanges. Unfortunately I'm getting an "unable to acquire lock" error in my code now, and I'm not currently that motivated to update my PHP library (which, at this point, is quite old). Do those reports matter to you? Are they really important? I'm thinking maybe not.

I'll keep the exchange ratio going though. I think that's the key to the future value of STEEM. As of right now, it looks like most people are still moving to exchanges (which is probably why the price is still going down).

I kind of feel silly for not selling my STEEM so I could buy it back up again at lower prices later. Cheers to those who are pulling that off now.

Commentary

  • Thank you @thejohalfiles. You're basically funding the platform right now.

  • The withdrawal ratio is the worst it's ever been (9.60 to 1) which makes sense since the price is as low as it's ever been.

  • What do you think the price will settle at? Will it keep going down on into the summer and if so, what will cause it to rise again? I'm not sure, but I do know I love having a blog on the blockchain. Getting paid something for my posts is also quite nice, even if the actual exchange value may only be an illusion. :)
