Steemvoter Week In Review for June 25 - 30

week in review.jpg

Today we take a break from guild vote nominations to bring you another edition of the Steemvoter Week In Review newsletter. This is an opportunity to highlight winning SV Guild picks from the previous week. Since post payouts happen at the end of a 7-day window, we feel it's fair to give our winners one more chance at getting some recognition before their payout periods close. These are hand-picked community recommendations that you won't want to miss!

In addition, we'll share any updates that the owners of Steemvoter care to pass along plus a Tip of the Week for getting the most out of the Steemvoter service.

Without further ado, we present... drum roll please...

5 Powerful "Variety Hacks" To Change Your Steeming Forever! by @sidwrites

Author @sidwrites joined Steemit recently in May 2017 and has done fairly well so far with frequent, popular posts. In his latest post, @sidwrites provides tips and tricks for the community in the sense of improving the aesthetics of a post through various recommended enhancements such as image headers and making good use of colons and commas to entice readers to read more, to name a few of the proposed tricks. Read the post to find out more about how your blogging could be revitalized with a few simple tools & techniques.

My introduction: How I want to use Steemit by @tommyinthesun

We're happy to have the chance to welcome new Steemian @tommyinthesun to our community. In his introduceyourself post, he shares some wonderful pictures of his home in the beautiful mountains of Kentucky & talks about his varied interests. He leads a busy life full of such activities as teaching traditional music to children, renovating an old building as part of an effort to setup a non-profit organization, writing his own music, composing poetry, and more. We think his blog will be a fun one to keep an eye on!

7 Bhagavad Gita Sayings For A Happy Life by @libert

Author @libert joined Steem in November 2016 and claims to be a full-time Steemian from India. In his latest post he writes about "7 Bhagavad Gita sayings that are a cheat-sheet to a happy life", there are some real gems there and great general advice for life, in particular this excerpt is quite moving, "You need not have any regrets for the past. You need not worry for the future. The present is happening." Keep up the great work!

I thought God sent me an angel without wings, i thought .... by @anejosua

This original poem by @anejosua is haunting & evocative, and he picked some good imagery to go with it. Steemit is a great place to see all sorts of creative, artistic endeavors flourish, and we're happy that poetry has found a home here too. His blog is filled with more great pieces of art, photography, and poetry. We urge you to check it out if you're ever in the mood for something to sooth your troubled mind!

Every single occasion is good to promote-represent STEEMIT by @webdeals

Never a dull moment around @webdeals, as this post shows. He takes us on an entertaining journey to a tropical beach party where by some fortuitous blending of happy circumstances he winds up talking cryptocurrencies in the VIP area. We commend him for having the quick thinking to work in a pitch for Steemit, despite or perhaps because of having probably more than a few drinks under his belt. Now this is what we call going above & beyond the call of promotional duty! If only official Steemit marketing efforts were as fun to read about as this post. You rock @webdeals!

Lunch at 'Gabreku 1929' Restaurant in Samobor, Croatia - Steemer's Review by @buzzbeergeek

Author @buzzbeergeek is living the good life of a fine beer connoisseur in Croatia. His entertaining blog is filled with great reviews of various restaurants & beverages, of which this post is a fine example. In addition to the food & drink, we get to see some great pictures showing off the local scenery. After reading this post, our stomachs are rumbling and we feel the need to go grab a cold one from the fridge. Steem on @buzzbeergeek!

hammer.jpg Steemvoter Service Update

It's been another week of bailing water and plugging holes in the hull to keep the ship afloat for the good crew of Steemvoter. We had an issue with a third party service called Steem Data which we had been relying on to provide the information fetched when you press the "Get SP" and "Get VP" buttons on the main Steemvoter web page. Unfortunately Steem Data has proven unreliable and for several days these buttons weren't working due to a glitch with their service.

So to fix the issue we migrated to a different data provider which I'm sure many of you are familiar with: steemdb.com. We're happy to report the "Get SP" and "Get VP" buttons are working fine now. Since we're using steemdb.com, the information you see on the Steemvoter page will be the same as what you would see if you navigate to steemdb.com yourself, for example https://steemdb.com/@cryptomancer/data :

As you can see, Steemvoter shows the same:

Note that steemdb.com tends to lag behind the official Steemit wallet a bit, so changes to your Steem Power will take a little time before reflecting on Steemvoter.

This update also fixes the bug concerning accounts that have a dash character ('-') in the name, which was discussed in the tip of the week section of the Steemvoter Week In Review for June 5 - 10.

lightbulb.jpg Tip of the Week - Graphing growth on Steem Whales

https://steemwhales.com/ is another great resource for Steemians to take advantage of. You can use it to see how your account ranks against other community members. Your rank can be measured in terms of reputation, Steem Power, total account value, number of followers, and more. For example, if you choose "Number of Followers" from the Rankings menu and then input "steemvoter" as the account to search, you'll get this:

july1_tip3.jpg

So you can see we're ranked #217 in terms of number of followers, which is awesome! We owe a big thanks to everyone who follows us and takes place in our guild vote nominations, you guys & gals inspire us to keep working hard on behalf of the community!

You can also see more details about your account history by putting your username into the "Search a whale" box at the top of the web page:

july1_tip4.jpg

Your account page allows you to produce graphs of useful information such as your account value over time, repution & followers, and posting & curation rewards. These stats can be shown in a daily view that shows changes over the last month, or a weekly view that shows your entire account history. For example, here is the weekly view of curation & posting rewards for our co-owner @cryptomancer (these are measured on an absolute point scale rather than dollar value which fluctuates with the price of Steem):

Give it a try, graphing your account is a fun way to see how you're improving over time. And that's it for this edition of the Steemvoter Week In Review. We wish all of you a great week ahead!
