Hoje, no #LoveFriday, trago-vos um texto meu que já escrevi há algum tempo... mas que continua a ser atual. O julgamento é vosso, digam de vossa justiça.

Today, on #LoveFriday, I'm bringing you something I wrote a while ago... but still makes sense! Just judge for yourselves.

Nem tudo o que parece é. Todos pensamos diferente, dizemos coisas de maneira diferente. Às vezes para significar o mesmo. Ler os sinais é sinal de clarividência. Porque um sim pode significar um não e vice-versa. Por isso não julgue, tente ler nas entrelinhas, ser menos imediatista e mais empático.

Not everything is what it seems. We all think differently and say things in a different way. Sometimes to mean the same the others say. Reading the signs is being clear-sighted. Because a yes can mean a no and vice-versa. So don't be judgmental, try to read between the lines, be less immediate and more empathic.

Tente decifrar o que o outro tem para dizer, a sua linguagem corporal, os gestos que estão por detrás das palavras… e dos silêncios. Tente perceber as suas motivações, os seus medos e as suas inseguranças.

Try to figure out what the other has to say, their body language, the gestures behind the words... and the silences. Try to understand their motivations, their fears, and their insecurities.

Ponha-se na sua pele, faça o exercício de perceber a razão de uma atitude, de uma palavra ou de um gesto. Não julgue, conte até dez antes de reagir e tente compreender a amplitude e o alcance das ações que vê ou ouve por interposta pessoa.

Put yourself in their shoes, make the effort to find out the reason behind an attitude, a word or a gesture. Don't judge, count to ten before you react, and try to understand the breadth and depth of the actions you see before your own eyes or hear from a third person about another.

Não julgue, pense que, muitas vezes, também nós somos julgados por palavras que dizemos e ações que praticamos sem que tivéssemos a menor intenção no sentido em que somos interpretados. E isso, mais do que nos magoar e revoltar, deve servir-nos para ampliar a nossa capacidade de compreensão.

Don't be judgmental, and think that, more often than not, we too are judged by words and actions with no intention at all and they end up being misinterpreted by the ones around us. And this, more than hurting and outrage us, should instead serve to expand our ability to understanding.

Deve ser um momento de reflexão, não só no sentido de entender, mas no literal e verdadeiro reflexo que devem ter em nós as atitudes dos outros.

It should take us a moment of reflection, not only in the sense of understanding but in the literal and true reflection that the attitudes of others must have in us.
