This jackfruit tree is on the side of the road.

It's branches cross a ditch. I ask Nina to sit in one of the branches. Reluctantly she does it.

The Story

"I'm not acrophobia," Nina said.

Carefully she stepped into the middle of a large tree branch with caution. She then sits back and looks down.

"It's high but I'm not scared of falling," she said.

Nina is a brave girl. She isn't scared of falling even though she can not run. She isn't afraid of cats even though her body is just the size of a matchbox.

"What's to be afraid of?" she said. "Life is mortal."

Pohon nangka ini berada di tepi jalan. Cabangnya menyeberangi sebuah selokan. Aku meminta Nina duduk di salah satu cabang itu. Dengan enggan dia melakukannya.

Nina Menolak Jatuh

"Aku tak takut ketinggian," kata Nina.

Dia melangkah ke tengah cabang pohon besar dengan hati-hati. Dia lalu duduk santai sambil melihat ke bawah.

"Memang tinggi tapi aku tak takut jatuh," kata dia.

Nina gadis pemberani. Dia tak takut jatuh meski tak bisa berlari. Dia tak takut kucing meski badannya hanya sebesar kotak korek api.

"Apa yang harus ditakutkan?" kata dia. "Hidup ini fana."
