Certain athletes rise to levels of fame where they become a single word. Phelps. Bolt. Ali. - like rock stars and Royalty, we know them by a single moniker.
Little do you know that it's the men and women on the bleachers and the stands sweating in the merciless sun who roars and chants and cheers who fuel these giants. Prime athletes are in a very dependent relationship with the crowd - how often have we seen a long distance runner being cheered across the line when he should have collapsed?
I am not a professional athlete. Hell I wish I was but I can barely touch my knees never mind swim a relay. But I live vicariously through the likes of Phelps and Le Clos and Ryan Murphy. After a glass of wine I can be Ronaldo when he scores (on and off the field) and for the first time in history the average person like me is going to be rewarded for just being a fan. @SportsPodium is going to give crypto tokens to the likes of me for giving them scores - from school games, and gym stats to the names of players to watch in future.
Acknowledgement at last. For the die hard fan who lives for and through sport. Watch this space and see how we are going to make this work.
