Coffee Time Meditation #26 -- Oct. 4th

"If you're in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out. Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt." — Author Unknown

Thoughts on Today’s Quote

I decided to search Google today to see if someone has been able to attribute this quote to it’s author. I learned the quote is actually from a poem called The Comfort Zone. Here’s the poem:

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I wouldn’t fail.
The same four walls and busywork were more like jail.
I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and pace the same old floor.
I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much.
I said I didn’t care for thinks like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.
I couldn’t let me life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.
If you’re in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.
Reach for your future with a smile; success is there for you!

So, what is the comfort zone? For most people a comfort zone is the place, physical or mental, where they feel safe and secure. They don’t feel stress and anxiety as they carry out their life activities as they are comfortable where they are.

The comfort zone can be a good place to be, even to work within. You can focus on what you are doing without concern, you’re more relaxed and productive.

Sounds like the place to be in life, right? It likely is if you just want to be in that space the rest of your life.

What if you want new experiences? What if you want to move to another level in your work?

What if life changes and disrupts your comfort zone?

Without the willingness to at least occasionally to step out of the comfort zone and challenge yourself to doing things differently you might as well be locked in a prison cell with a life sentence.

I can be prone to social anxiety. I love being at home doing my thing. I love that I work from home, I don’t have to worry about coping in a work environment.

Sounds great eh?

As much as I love it, I am well aware that I am locking myself up when I do that. I need to get out into the community, to interact with others and contribute to my community. Doing so doesn’t only contribute to the community, it challenges me to get out of my comfort zone.

What gets you out of your comfort zone?

Who is ?

The author of this quote is unknown.

*I will try to find information on the author of the quotes I share. I wont always be successful.

Don’t know about you, but I find it interesting to know who the person was that anyone took the time to record or quote that person.*
