Legacy Challenge

Victoria Steem is my Sim Girl legacy challenge Sim. If you are not familiar with the challenge you can find it at Sim Legacy Challenge. This challenge is to basically start your Sim out on a huge lot of land, with little to no money, and then play the household for 10 generations on this land. There are many stipulations, and rules for the challenge. You can find these rules by following the link.

This week, we start out with Victoria Steem asleep in her little hut. Poor thing. It looks like she is living in a prison cell. She is working as a team mascot in the athletic career track. Victoria only needs to build her charisma skill one more level, before she can move up in her career, as dance team captain.

In an earlier post, my friend @snook asked for gardening advice. Since, I have been playing the Steemit roommates, who live in the city, I do not have much of a garden. I guided her to some cool videos I found online.

One of the videos, showed how to fish up a cow plant seed! I am so excited, because I have never grown a cow plant, and Victoria Steem needs a cow plant…

Victoria has so much land to tend, and is the perfect candidate to start a garden. She is off work on Thursday, so instead of spending her day off at the bar, playing games. We are going to send her off to find this cow plant!

Victoria has made it to dance team captain, and she likes her new uniform much better than the mascot one. She is not having fun, and she desperately needs a day off. She has 5 vacation days saved up, and a long way to go until her next promotion. Sounds like she needs a fishing day!

Taking a day off from work can be done from Victoria’s cell phone. There she has many choices including quitting her job. She cannot afford to do that now. So, she will take advantage of the vacation days she has saved up, grab a bite to eat, and then go fishing for the cow plant seed!

The video suggests the cow plant can be fished up from the Desert Bloom park, in the Oasis Springs part of the Sim world. Victoria has never been fishing before, so she will be learning as she goes.

Any time you are near a body of water, you can hover your mouse over, and check if you can fish there. You will be allowed to click on the water where you can fish, and then you will have the options to go fishing, or you can look for frogs. Frogs can be sold, or bred.

The fish caught while fishing can be mounted on the wall, or kept in a fish bowl. They can also be eaten by your Sim, sold, or used as fertilizer while gardening.

We did not catch the cow plant today, but Victoria has another day off to try again.

Victoria had enough money to buy a new kitchen, and make her bedroom a little bigger. She may have to sell it all again when the bills come due, but it takes too long to run to the gym every time she is hungry. So, for now she will be eating at home!

It may not seem like Victoria has lived here very long, but she will be aging up to an adult soon. She has spent most on her young adult life trying to climb up her career track, that she has not paid much attention to her social relationships.

Her clock is ticking, and this is a legacy challenge, so she will need to produce an heir soon. I will have to go back to the challenge rules, and read about the restrictions for getting married, and producing offspring.

You can check your Sims age, by selecting the head icon. By mousing over the meter, you can see how many days your Sim has before their next stage of life. The Sims do not age the same as us, every Sim day is a year our time.

She may have only been alive for 18 days, but she is about 38 years old in our time. Once she reaches her 40s, her metabolism will drop, and she will not raise her athletic skill as fast as she did as a young adult.

Victoria spent her day off from work fishing at the local spots around the Sim world. She also caught a few fish to fry up at home, or sell for cash. She leveled her fishing quickly, and reached level four of the skill. She caught a guppy, two koi, a salmon, a perch, a trout, a tuna, and a goldfish. She also caught two kitchen upgrade parts, but no cow plant seeds. Bummer.

When she got home that evening I moved around a few of her household items, and sold the fish. To sell from your inventory, hold the left-mouse button, and drag the item from the Sim’s inventory to the sell coin icon. The salmon was worth $145.00. Maybe I should just have her fish all day, instead of going to work! Something to think about!

For the first time, Victoria woke up in a home that she could take a shower, and make her own food. I would suggest to anyone whose Sim’s funds are low, to go fishing. Victoria will be fishing more often for extra cash.

For a quick gardening tutorial, I will use the mushrooms I picked a while back, since I didn’t catch a cow plant like I had hoped. You can collect seeds from plants around town, or you can buy starter seeds, when you own a planting box. You can also plant any fruit or vegetable you may have in your inventory, such as garlic.

When you open your inventory, you will see the planting item. I had 18 mushrooms, so I clicked on the icon, and opened the pack. Once you have your plants separated, you can drag the item from the inventory and place it on the ground, where you want to plant it.

You can click the seed, or in this case a mushroom, on the ground, and then you can select the plant option. After the seed is planted, you will have the option to water it, and eventually as your gardening skill grows you will have more options, such as to weed the plant, or harvest the fruit.

If you want to level your gardening skill to max, Follow the advice in these cool videos.

Until next time,

Happy Gaming- Sim Girl
