The lessons Drawing a mortar and Drawing circles aim to exercise how to draw circles using a square as a starting point, making diagonal lines on the square to determine the help points to draw it.
This lesson was not homework so I am happy to see the enthusiasm of wanting to do this exercise.

This is a new drawing sent by @stef1 which I will comment on today.
At this stage, we had seen how to draw circles on a square, and how to make different shades of gray by hatching.
In that sense @stef1 has made an excellent drawing, both the mortar hole and the shading are well done.
The shading within the hole looks fine to me, there are vertical and circular strokes to indicate depth and circular cavity, perhaps it should be a bit darker up at the edge of the surface, however, there is a good sense of depth.

The problem here is that white line you leave between the mortar and the shadow (red arrow, bellow). The shadow must touch the object. To make a difference, the tones should be a little different as I explained in this feedback.
Do not forget that the shadows must be flat on the ground (projected shadow), this can be achieved with a diffuser or a tortillon. See tools
In case you want to leave a subtle thin white line to separate the mortar and the shadow, this "white line" should be on the subject, not on the shadow.

Lovely drawing @stef1, as always. I Like the care you take to make a very clean drawing without damaging the paper, that is very important, the rest will come with practice!
don't worry about shadows yet, we'll see that very soon.
