Thoughts on Today’s Quote
Risk. What is life without risk? Can you even envision life without risk?
I know people who try to avoid risk in their lives. I smile and nod supportively while biting my tongue from telling them that they take a risk anytime they get out of bed.
Yes, we take risks every single day. Some are smaller than others. Just getting up in the morning is a risk that we’ll have to deal with something we are not used to during the day ahead.
Risk can be terror inducing, the thought of doing something, anything that is outside of our comfort zone can render some us to a state of paralysis. For others, risk is a great stimulator, a new adventure for them to go charging into. Those are the extremes. Most of us are someone in between the two.
For me, it depends on the risk level. Risk can be as benign as putting this post up not knowing if anyone will read it, like it or upvote it. It could be finding myself needing to enter a new unfamiliar situation alone, that’s pretty fear inducing. It could also be finally reaching a decision to do something I want to do but fear failing.
Deciding to focus more on my writing was one of those decisions. I knew I wanted to write. I had even done some writing. Writing out of interest and writing to try to make money, that is two whole different matters. The first is fun. The second is panic inducing until some results happen, then it can become fun.
What are the risks that terrify you the most? Do you face them headon or do you run in terror from them?
