Playing the Sims: Birthday Edition!

Hello, and welcome to my blog- How to Play the Sims. If you are new, you can visit my blog and catch up by reading my previous posts. Follow me @simgirl to receive my newest posts in your Steemit feed.

Legacy Challenge

Victoria, and Jack Steem are my Sim Girl legacy challenge Sims. If you are not familiar with the challenge you can find it at Sim Legacy Challenge. This challenge is to basically start your Sim out on a huge lot, with little to no money, and then play the household for 10 generations on this land. There are many stipulations, and rules for the challenge. You can find these rules by following the link.

Today is a big birthday day in the Steem home. For some reason, I am having trouble getting the birthday celebrations to work since the whole immortal glitch. I am happy to note that Victoria has begun to age again, so she will become an elder in 23 days.

Jack on the other hand has gained some years on Victoria, and will be aging to an elder in only 10 days. Although, the whole glitch has messed up my storyline a few times, I am glad that Victoria had a few more years to raise the first generation of Steem offspring.

Carolyn was the first to celebrate her birthday today. The random generator trait gave her the charmer trait. Toddlers with the charmer trait love to socialize and will learn the communication skill faster. They do not get the stranger danger, negative buff from strangers and they can share the love with others.

Since I am unable to put candles on the cakes to celebrate birthdays, I need to age the children up manually. If you need to level your Sims up at a certain time, or earlier than they would normally, you can click on the Sim and select the age up option.

I was going to give Victoria a break from the baby making, but since she has been given extra time in this Sim world, she had might as well try to have one more baby.

And these babies happen to be… Immortal babies that never grow up!

It seems that the twins have inherited their mother’s immortal trait.

I’m not even going to worry about it. I will only hope, the remove trait code worked, and that they fix it sometime soon. I really hope that Victoria and Jack do not have to raise 5 toddlers forever.

Could you imagine!!!!

Meanwhile, Jack has reached level 7 of the gardening skill, and now has a super green thumb.

To find out what this means, I turned to Carl’s Sims 4 Guide, for his gardening advice.

Having a super green thumb, means that Jack can now water and weed at the same time! When Jack gardens he will now have the tend garden option. That is awesome, because no one around here has the time or energy, to weed the garden. I do not think it has ever been weeded.

I did have a hard time keeping up with everything, and called out for professional help. Victoria and Jack will now be paying a maid, a nanny, and a gardener.

As I was playing, the notification popped up informing me that Angelina had finally grown up. Thankfully the Steems will not need to toil day and night, caring for 4 toddlers at one time!

Using the random trait generator from the Sims legacy challenge website, I rolled for Angelica’s trait, and she received the glutton trait.

The glutton trait gives Angelica a greater negative reaction to hunger. She will always enjoy eating, no matter what the quality of the food, and can eat spoiled food. That’s gross.

She will also be able to rummage for food in the garbage. Let’s hope we can break her of that habit.

Josette aged up, and received the goofball trait from the random trait generator. This means she will tend to be playful. Not such a bad trait. Both Angelica, and Josette have received the Social Butterfly aspiration.

The worst part of this immortal glitch I have had to deal with in the Sims 4, is that the children receive a sad buff from not having a birthday party.

It is not from lack of trying on my part. Victoria has made so many cakes, that’s all there is, to eat in the house. This glitch has made it, so the birthday Sim cannot blow out the candles of their cake, or celebrate their birthday. And this makes them sad, thinking no one remembered their birthday.

When your toddler Sims grow up to be kids, they will need a bigger bed again. You will find these beds in the furniture section of the build mode. These beds look exactly like the toddler beds, but they are a little bit bigger.

They are also a little bit more expensive. Each of the beds cost a little over $200, so if you are playing a legacy challenge, and have little funds; be sure to account for, and plan for this extra cost when your toddler grows to be a kid.

Your Sim kid will not be able to sleep in the toddler bed.

To further advance the family role, in my Sim Girl legacy challenge. I installed the Parenthood game pack to my Sims 4 game.

In the Parenthood game pack, the Sims will be able to develop parenting skills, enjoy new family activities, shape the Sim’s childhood, and personalize the household.

I have never played this game pack, but it looks very cool.

Here is a preview for the Parenthood trailer:

I hope you have learned a little more about how to play the legacy challenge, and how to tend a family and a garden.

The Steems now have 2 female kids, and 2 female toddlers.

The new sibling rivalry scenario from the Parenthood game pack, should make it interesting.

They also have a new baby on the way!

If they have a chance to make a chore list, gardening will be on that list in this household.

Until next time,

Happy Gaming- Sim Girl
