Coffee Time Meditation #38 -- Jan. 10th

“The key to happiness is having dreams; the key to success is making them come true.” — James Allen

Thoughts on Today’s Quote

At a certain time of year, I meet with a lot of low income individuals as part of a community program. I often engage the clients in chat as I take their sign up.

I find it interesting to learn how few of them have dreams of any kind. There are some who express dreams of changing their situation. Both return year after year.

Now, I know that your level of income doesn’t determine happiness. I also know that a chronic struggle to get by financially can be mentally draining of any desire to dream of things being different. I only use these as an example of the value of today’s quote.

Those without dreams appear to accept their lot and let life drive them. They don’t push back or try to change their situation with any determination because they have no sense or vision of what they want to replace their current situation with. Oh, they know they would like more income, just not how or what they would with it.

Those who have dreams and return year after year are an indication of people who don’t move to make their dreams happen. Dreams without action are just that, dreams. Taking action, even action which doesn’t always succeed is what drives you toward finding the success your dreams desire.

For much of my life I dreamt of being a writer that made income from writing. I never truly took action to making that dream come true until I found Steemit. Now, I work toward that goal every single day. No, I live that goal because I am writing and I am getting paid for it. I am seeing that increase every day that I write.

Do you have dreams? Have you acted on them?

About Coffee Time Meditation

I love being inspired by other people’s quotes. I thought I’d start sharing some quotes that inspire me along with my own thoughts the quote evokes within me. So, think of someone, like me, sitting quietly with the first fresh coffee of the day and mediating about the words of the quote. That would be me, or it could be you.

I invite you to share your own thoughts on the quote in the comments.
