Hi friends!
We have seen how to avoid the mistake of drawing too stretched, unrealistic perspective, and for this, we use a simple trick learned in the previous lesson 52-Masterclass
Now, I would like to discuss with you some aspects of this perspective projection, just to keep it in mind when we draw.
The drawing below is a very clean projection of two cubes placed in the middle of our drawing paper. We have defined the two vanishing points VP1 & VP2 as we learned earlier in 52-Masterclass
This is the same drawing but shows the vanishing lines to extend the drawing of the cubes towards the horizon line (left) and towards the right side, that is, closer to the observer.
Once we have outlined the cubes, it becomes clear in the drawing that they get smaller and smaller as they get closer to the horizon, that is what gives us the feeling of distance or depth.
This is the opposite; by extending the vanishing lines to the front (right or left) we have the feeling of approach, but clearly, our figures are distorted again.
Part of the answer to this problem lies in that eye I drew at the bottom, below the 90° corner. This eye is to indicate that this right angle will represent for us an approximate visualization of our visual cone. Remember the conditions or agreements that we have adopted to draw using the rules of perspective. See 26-Masterclass
So, to make a drawing without perspective distortions, we must always keep in mind that our drawing must be located in the imaginary red circle that I have drawn for you.
However, there are numerous samples of the intentional use of these distortions, especially in cartoonish or expressionistic drawings.
I wish you a very nice day and good exercise!
I leave you here some samples of perspective drawings you could use as an inspiration source to make your own drawings.
Let me see your progress or tell me about your issues or difficulties when drawing.
