Hi friends!
In the previous post, I showed you the visual cone to get a drawing without perspective distortions, but this restricts our drawing to a small part of our drawing sheet, as you can see below.
But, what happens if we want to make a drawing occupying almost all the drawing paper like this one below?
All of the helplines fall on vanishing points outside of our drawing space, as you can see here.
The solution is quite simple: define the vanishing points on the outside of your sheet and draw the helplines with the help of a long ruler.
But, it is difficult to define the position of the vanishing points a little blindly.
So we'll start by freehand drawing the large volumes of our subject in the position we need and as large as we want for our purposes.
See this sample.
The next step is to extend the most important edges of our drawing as I show you below.
At the point where these helplines intersect, we can define the horizon or eye-level line. In this case, I get different heights from the vanishing lines, so I have to choose which horizon line seems the most convenient.
I have chosen the one of VP1 and I eliminate the other, keeping only the distance at which the vanishing lines intersect to define VP2 on the horizon line of VP1.
You already know how to do the rest by drawing the helplines that you consider necessary. If not, I advise you to read and exercise the previous lessons.
Final drawing.
I wish you a very nice day and good exercise!
