Hi friends!
This is an example of how we can analyze a photo to determine the horizon and vanishing points. We will also see that in a composition different elements can have different vanishing points depending on their ubication and orientation in relation to our point of view.
What we observe:
Starting by defining the vertical centre of the painting using the diagonals technique, we find that it almost coincides with the end of the building on the left side.
By extending the edges of this building shown below, we find the crossing point of these three vanishing lines a bit outside the edge of the image, as you can see on the left-hand side.
At the crossing point of the vanishing lines, we can trace a line to define the eye-level line or horizon line. So we get the VP1.
In the same way, we extend the edges of the street to the horizon line where they are crossing to get the VP2.
So on we continue, to get VP3...
...VP4...
...VP5...
...VP6...
...VP7...
...VP8...
and VP9
With all this information obtained thanks to the perspective rules learned in the previous lessons, we are ready to start drawing.
I wish you a very nice day and good exercise!
