In this video, I show you how I prepare my pencils to draw.

Try to get a tip of 1 or 1.5 cm.

Also, try to always buy good quality pencils.

Good quality pencils have a good quality wooden casing, which will not crack or splinter when you cut it. Good quality graphite has no impurities so the lead has an even hardness.
Above all, avoid hitting your pencil (falling to the ground, for example) because the graphite will break inside.
